The burden of keeping up with medical and prescription payments, making sure that medical insurance is covering our costs properly, and finding the best deals on prescriptions is something that I and many of us work through and struggle with, especially as years go by and the number of physical ailments increase.

I'm thankful that I have a husband who works and through him we have medical insurance. I spend my time working at home and keeping up with our bills and paperwork, seeking out the best deals, and managing our finances. One day he will retire, or no longer be able to work, and we'll join many who have to find the best deals possible on their medications.

One store that is doing their part to help it's customers with this is Walgreens. Recently Walgreens tried to work out a deal to have their contract with Express Scripts renewed, so that Walgreens would still be part of their Pharmacy Providers Network. Walgreens and Express Scripts are no longer working together because the contract was not renewed. This put a burden on customers who have been saving through the program, causing many to have to find alternatives elsewhere…but a solution has been found.

To help these individuals, and provide a service to new customers, you can now join a Prescription Savings Club at Walgreens. It only costs $5 for an individual, and $10 for a family, which includes dependents up to 22 years of age and even pet prescriptions. You save on over 8000 name brand prescriptions, and on all generic prescriptions. Sign up this month if you need help with prescription costs, it's a great way to start the year.

To stay updated on Walgreens, follow Walgreens on Twitter, and visit Walgreens on Facebook and "like" their page.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Straight Talk for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I have been reading about different phone services, as you know, always trying to save money during lean times in our home. Often the companies will say that their services are low priced so they are great for children and young adults just starting out that can't afford some of the services that require a contracts that are available. As a baby boomer, headed to what my parents used to call a "second childhood" (I'm just beginning to understand what they mean by that) I'd say this type of service would be great for older Americans too. We're retiring, on fixed incomes, and not ready to fall, "Hook, line and sinker " as they say for just any phone service.

Now one thing that my "young adult" children have that I don't have is an Android phone. The service I have is economically priced, but it would really be fun…in my "second childhood" to have an Android…and I'm finding that you CAN have an Android on Straight Talk …a reasonably priced service that offers refurbished phones for VERY reasonable prices. You can get 1000 minutes talk time, 1000 texts and 10MB web data with the "All You Need" plan or spend $45 for unlimited plan. You can Call a friend or a lot of friends and talk as long as you like, or text as much as you like for a low price and no contract.

It is making me feel like a kid again to think of the possibilities!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of TracFone for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Our contract ran out with a cell phone service that we have used for about 6 years. Every couple of years we would qualify for another "free" cell phone if we signed up for another 2 years of what we now know was expensive service. We aren't into all the bells and whistles that come with many of the new smart phones…we like some bells and whistles, just not as many as we see in phones like our daughter and son have.

The last time when our contract ran out, we explored a few lower priced, no contract cell phone services. I looked into the TracFone and read reviews by real TracFone customers to learn as much as I could. There is nothing like reading the experiences of others to help you in making your decision. I like the track phone a lot. It has several different pay-as-you-go plans to suit your needs in a range of prices starting as low as $10 for the person who does not use there phone heavily, and on up depending upon your need. There are not contracts or activation fees, and no penalties if you stop your service early. There are so many features with the TraFone…you can get phones that have a QWERTY keyboard for easy texting, an mp3 player, camera, web access, ability to use apps and so much more.

I can't think of anything that would keep a person from trying this phone…you can buy your pay-as-you-go minutes online or at many stores. The only hindrance may be if there isn't coverage in your area, but they do cover a LOT of area, visit the links for information and to see if this is covered in your area.

I live in a large town with a small town atmosphere, and remember well when Walgreens came to town. The idea took getting used to for most folks because we had a small town style pharmacy that many were loyal too. Still, like many in town, I wanted to give Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products a chance, so walked into our local Walmart. It was new, bright and clean with many of their own brands available. I was looking for a Neti Pot at the time, and there were several to choose from…but bargain shopper that I am, I chose the one that had "Walgreens" on the box because their store brands are as good as name brand products. It came with the Neti Pot plus a great supply of what is need to make the saline solution…I use it regularly in the Springtime to clear pollen from the sinuses, and when I feel a cold coming on. It's been used a LOT his spring season, and because of it, I've been able to avoid allergy medications. It was reassuring to know that if there was anything I didn't like about the product, the guarantee meant that I could return it, it had a 100% money back guarantee.

Please take a moment to check out Walgreens Way to Well Fund™, a program that is helping people take a preventative approach to things like cancer, heart disease and many other common diseases. Plus, Walgreens has a Sweepstakes going on, visit to see what their giveaways are.

Yes, we've all gotten used to having a large Walgreens and our large town hasn't lost it's small town atmosphere. Advertisement

Baby Boomer grandparents, boomers soon to become grandparents, and any new mothers with newborns, or pregnant woman looking forward to the birth of their child who may be reading, this is for you.

There is a delightful website for you to share with your child who is soon to become a parent, or for you to visit if you are reading this and looking forward to giving birth to a new little one. You will find many things for the newborn, including a baby formula called "Bright Beginnings". This is a formula that you can buy on diapers.com that comes in many different forms suitable to babies that may have food sensitivities that cause them digestive upset. There are gentle formulas, milk-based formulas, and soy-based formulas. There are great discount offers, you will find a couple of them at the top of the page when you visit.

I often share that among my favorite memories with our now-grown babies was the experience of breast-feeding for a number of weeks…so good for building the infants immune system. But each day, one feeding was a formula feeding, so that my husband would have an opportunity to bond with the babies when he would come home from work. Gradually it became all formula, and we raised two healthy children. These are among my most special memories.

You can find out more about Bright Beginnings on Facebook. If you are looking forward to being a grandparent, or parent, I wish you all the best…treasured memories are in the making!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of TABASCO® Original Red. All opinions are 100% mine.

My mind is on the Super Bowl and yes, I'm disappointed the Jets won't be in the game. And who can avoid the never-ending winter storms that have plagued us since Christmas weekend? When winter storms keep you trapped indoors, or shoveling snow outdoors, we think a great way to stay HOT inside is with some TABASCO® Original Red HOT sauce, which is actually MORE than just HOT. It has a way of enhancing the flavor of your food so that you enjoy each and every bite. As I type this, l'm looking out the window at a mountain of snow that has been growing due to shoveling since Christmas weekend when we had our first storm. I'm getting ready for a brunch of eggs, toast and of course some Tabasco sauce, we use it regularly around here. If it runs out, I hear about it from my husband, so always have an extra bottle in the cabinet…the LARGE size.

I have yet to try what they are calling Pizza Perfected which may be a great addition to your Game-Day Party Menu this coming Sunday. We will have to try it another day as we usually buy a hero from neighbors who are doing a fund raiser for their school band trip. But Pizza is good any day, so there will be plenty of opportunities. Original Red Tabasco Sauce was the first sauce introduced by the McIlhenny family back in 1868 and is as delicious today as it was then.

Enjoy the snow if you can, enjoy the Super Bowl Game, and may the best team win!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Tom's of Maine. All opinions are 100% mine.

I hope all of you have had a thankful Thanksgiving! It was nice to find an opportunity to post about something this Baby Boomer remembers from many years ago, Tom's Of Maine. They are the makers of some wonderful natural products, and have been around for about 40 years. The first product of theirs that I remember using is their toothpaste, but they've come a long way since then. They still have the same passion for quality, but quite a few more products.

We love Maine, and love the look and feel of the Tom's of Maine website. Their "That's Wicked Fresh contest page " looks like fun, too. All you have to do is a short tweet on Twitter or post to Facebook about a "wicked fresh" time you've had, and you might win a $500 gift card for Target or another great prize. Most of our wicked fresh times have been in Maine, our favorite vacation location. While your at their site, take a look at the natural products, with their all natural pure and healthy botanical ingredients. It's a beautiful site to behold.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of GlideTV. All opinions are 100% mine.

As you know from the previous post and others on this site, I enjoy videos on YouTube, and have also visited Hulu on occasion. I haven't done much viewing of NetFlix online, but have rented their DVD's. Many are finding that by connecting their computers to their televisions they can enjoy an enhanced viewing experience. We have yet to do that, as "baby boomers" we're a little slower keeping up with the technological advancements.

Finding videos to view has meant going from one site to another. Now with What's On it be as simple as visiting one site and panning through a wall of videos. Each video wall is divided into categories and genre. Along the top of the web page you find tabs for TV programs and series, movies, sports, news, and more. Some things are paid for, and there is a section for free content.

I loved the site when I visited as it's a very visual experience, and makes browsing through content so much easier for this baby boomer, and I think you will agree when you stop by for a visit.

Take a moment to enter GlideTV's sweepstakes on their Facebook page and win a Navigator to make your "What's On" experience even easier. Visit www.facebook.com/glidetv.
