When my husband and I were driving to our daughter’s apartment to celebrate birthdays this past weekend, we noticed that there are more motor cycles than usual on the highways, and commented to each other that the trend may be because of the high price of gas. Of course, it was also a sunny, beautiful day, so maybe it was just for fun!

I do know that for those of you who love to ride your Harley, and hate to leave it behind when you go on vacation, there is hope! Thanks to EagleRider, the pioneers of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle rental concept, you may just be able to plan Adventure Tours, like guided tours, or tours you plan yourself using a rented motorcycle when you vacation. Or maybe you have a destination you want to reach, and want to rent a Motorcycle to get there, and then leave it behind, there may be a way to do that.

Personally, my only motorcycle experience has been riding on the back of someone else’s bike, but my husband owned a motorcycle, and would love the Eaglerider concept. He’s an early-to-bed type of guy, so I’ll have to show him tomorrow…but if you’re reading this, why don’t you visit now and sign up for their newsletter to keep up with the latest.

Happy vacationing…enjoy the ride!

Claudia, there are loads of baby boomer travelers out there who would love the Eaglerider concept. Although I’ve never been on a motorcycle, my husband would be in hog (pun intended) heaven. Thanks for posting this on your blog.

Riding a bike, Hugh. My wife and I used to do the same thing years ago. We rode a 1986 Honda Goldwing and pulled a Trailer. Went all over the place with it. As far North as Vermont and as far South as South Carolina. We’ve rode in just about every type of weather . . Rain, wind, and cold. We used to really enjoy doing this, but the traffic and terrible drivers out there stopped everything. I miss it at times. When I see other “bikes” out there, I sorta wish that I’d do it again, but I just don’t want to get killed by some other driver in a car that say’s “I didn’t see you comming!” Going on a “Ice Cream Ride or a Supper Ride” was one of our favorite things to do.

    Stay well and Ride safe.

Thanks for posting your stories, Donna and Les. Les, sounds like you enjoy some great memories!! You are right about how easy it is sometimes for a driver to overlook a motor cycle, it’s easy to do, so both bikers and drivers have to keep on their toes while they are on their wheels :-)
